Community Events
The Prescott people, known as Prescottians, believe strongly in unity and the sense of community. The community of Prescott is like the heartbeat of the town. The Prescott community showcases many events throughout the year in the city of limits of Prescott. The other Quad Cities of Prescott Valley, Chino Valley and Dewey-Humboldt also have many events throughout the year that they promote as well.
New Year’s Eve Whiskey Row Boot Drop
Prescott kicks off the New Year every year with the New Year’s Eve Whiskey Row Boot Drop. This event happens on New Years’ Eve with a live band downtown at the Courthouse Plaza. There are food trucks, carnival rides and other vendors to help ring in the new year along with the famous “boot drop” located on top of the Palace Saloon’s rooftop! January also offers a community indoor ice skating rink at the Findlay Toyota Center for families to enjoy a winter activity together.
Throughout the rest of winter and into spring, Prescott events include many live theater performances, concerts at the historic Elks Theater and various art shows and exhibits. As the weather warms up, that is when things really kick it up a notch! In 2023 we started off June with Tac’O the Town-Prescott’s Taco Festival! This festival led into the following week with the Territorial Days Arts and Crafts Show and the Whiskey Row Brew Fest. The Summer Concert Series kicked off towards the end of June and runs into August. This a free event on the Courthouse Plaza twice a week in the evening that showcases live musicians to perform for the community. And I will say, these events are hands down not to be missed!! Wrapping up the month of June is the Annual Prescott Bluegrass Festival that celebrated its 42nd year in 2023 and the start of the World’s Oldest Rodeo and Prescott Frontier Days which always draws a huge crowd every summer.

Fourth of July
Fourth of July is patriotically celebrated at Watson Lake Park, which is a beautiful backdrop for the amazing fireworks display. August, September and October brings artists from near and far to set up their works of art around the Courthouse Plaza for everyone to enjoy a lovely weekend of browsing and shopping. September also showcases the Corvette show where more than 250 shiny, beautiful corvettes circle the Courthouse Plaza from all decades. This show is a fundraiser event benefiting local charities that also encompasses live bands and a dinner for everyone to enjoy.
Prescott is known as the “Christmas City” and lives up to that name by beginning with an annual Christmas Light Parade the weekend of Thanksgiving and a community bonfire at a local football field. The following weekend is a daytime Christmas parade followed by the “Lighting of the Courthouse Plaza” that evening. Acker Night is the second Friday night of December which showcases musicians of all genres playing in various shops and restaurants in downtown Prescott. Folks can shop and eat while listening to holiday music and donating to the non-profit, Keeping Music Alive 4 kids. The Christmas Village and ChristkindlMarket is the third weekend that finalizes the events for the year with some holiday shopping for all!
